Mount Meru Climbing (4 Days)
A Scenic, Wildlife-Rich & Perfect Acclimatization Trek
Rising to 4,566 meters, Mount Meru is Tanzania’s second-highest mountain and one of East Africa’s most underrated trekking adventures. Located inside Arusha National Park, this climb combines mountain trekking with wildlife encounters—something you won’t find on most other peaks.
The 4-day Mount Meru climb is the recommended itinerary because it allows better acclimatization, a more relaxed pace, and significantly increases your chances of reaching Socialist Peak (4,566 m). It is also an excellent preparation trek for Mount Kilimanjaro.
Trip Highlights
- Trek inside Arusha National Park
- Wildlife encounters during the hike (giraffes, buffaloes, zebras)
- Scenic forest, moorland, and alpine landscapes
- Acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820 m)
- Summit Socialist Peak (4,566 m)
- Sunrise views with Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance
- Higher summit success rate than the 3-day option
